11th May 2011 - Press save not send to avoid being a twit
There have been a couple of times when I’ve wanted to let rip on social media sites. Whether it’s to get something off my chest, respond to something someone else has posted or just trying to be a smart arse, temptation has nearly got the better of me.
Before I continue, please tell me I’m not alone on this.
However, I’ve not fallen foul yet thanks to HootSuite’s clever little save drafts button.
Like many other social media peeps I use HootSuite to update my Facebook, LinkedInand Twitter pages, either individually or any combination of them all. And it’s a proven to be a Godsend for keeping my big mouth, or in this case typing fingers, in check.
If I ever think I’m going to cross a line with my comments I hit the save drafts icon rather than the send button. I still get the pleasure of that great cathartic wave washing over me as I’ve done it but I also know I’ve bought myself time.
If I still feel strongly later then I can simply go into drafts and hit the send button but most of the time I just go in and delete the message. This button has helped keep my sanity and reputation in tact….for now at least!
Has anyone got any stories of tweets or updates they’ve posted and then regretted?
